7 Tips to Work Smarter

Save time by working smarter instead of working harder.  Try these seven tips:

1.  Make tomorrow's to do list at the end of today's work day.  Tasks will still be fresh in your mind.  Mark your priorities.

2.  Place tomorrow's first project on the center of your desk.  It will help you begin your day focused.

3.  Make and return phone calls during a set time.  Grouping activities is an organized way to work.

4.  Learn shortcuts for your computer programs.  Take a computer class.  A small investment of your time now can save hours later.

5.  Allow for delays.  Assign a deadline a few days before you actually need to complete a project.  Plan only 75% of your time to allow for interruptions and time-wasters.

6.  Make a permanent "out the door" checklist.  Think about everything you need to take with you on a routine sales call, trip or regularly scheduled meeting.  Print a list and check items off before you go.

7.  Schedule meetings and appointments with both beginning and ending times.  People tend to be more succinct when they're up against a deadline.
