5 Ways to Make Space in Your Office

Most of us have limited work space in our office.  Try these ideas to make more space in your work area:

1.  Use a step file sorter (available at most office supply stores).  Fill it with manila files that you can sort paper into such as "to do," "to refer," and "receipts."  By sorting your paperwork you'll get rid of the piles on your desk.

2.  Gather together any projects on which you're currently working.  Place the information in a tote bag or file box.  Use a separate one for each project.

3.  Think vertical.  Hang shelves and put personal items on them.  Only keep on your desk the items you use every day.

4.  Set up an IN box.  Anything that arrives in your office goes there until you have time to sort into your file sorter.

5.  Have an OUT system.  You can use a container near the door or a tote bag hanging on a hook by the door.  Fill it with items that belong somewhere other than your office.

If you take care of these items you'll find that your work area is more organized and you'll have more space to work.
